Long Table 161. The Franco-American Castorland Jeton

The Franco-American Castorland Jeton, engraved by the famous French Mint Master, Benjamin Duvier, is one of the most beautiful collectable “medals” in the Colonial American series. Its imagery idealizes one of the more interesting, but lesser-known, historical events following the American Revolution, and during the French Revolution and its “reign of terror”. One of the most prolific issues of the Paris Mint, it circulated as compensation, commemoration, and even possibly as currency. ANS Life Fellow and Honorary Trustee Roger Siboni will outline the history of the Franco-American Castorland Jeton on its journey from the “original” jeton for the Compagnie de New York to a heavily produced copy collectible French jeton.

ANS Members only. A link will be sent to members the day of the event.
