6. Ex-President Roosevelt. Plaquette

In 1908, Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919) sat for his portrait (see #137) for use on the Panama Canal Service Medal (see #s 103 and 105). The portrait can be found in both plaquette and medallion format. The plaquette differs from the medallion, most notably by the fact that the medallion lacks Roosevelt’s pince-nez which is half-visible on the plaquette, hanging by a cord from the top button of his vest.
