Long Table 181. Coin Finds from Olympia: Analysis from 1875 to the Present Day

Long-term excavations at the sanctuary of Zeus in Olympia have uncovered thousands of ancient coins. The systematic study of these finds was first undertaken by Peter Robert Franke at the beginning of the 1960s and continues to this day. Simone Killen (Commission for Ancient History and Epigraphy at the German Archaeological Institute) will trace the origins of the numismatic research in Olympia and create a link to a current project, which aims to publish the Olympic find coins digitally.
