American Numismatic Society, 0000.999.5954.

102. Reverse of the John Paul Jones plaquette, commemorating the bringing over of his remains to America.

106. John Paul Jones plaquette, second of the series, commemorating noted men in the history of America.

Brenner did the John Paul Jones for the American Numismatic Society in 1906 during his second stay in Paris. It commemorates the return of Jones’ remains from Paris to Annapolis in 1905. George A. Lucas (see #s 93 and 121) recorded details of Brenner’s progress in his diaries, including the loan of horse sculptures by Antoine-Louis Barye (1795-1875) from his collection to be used as references.
