Schaefer Notes: ex Kunker 59, 318. Obv die similar to C but neckguard higher, upper leaf far from helm, rear curl. Rev similar to 13 but image
too poor to check; huge rev die break.
New Notes: Schaefer includes with "fakes" and says that the obverse is similar to C but the details are too close, including the way
the die wore (esp. around the helmet eye hole and on the neck), for it to be a different die. On the other hand the top leaf
does look farther from the helmet crest than on other specimens for which there is not an easy explanation. Perhaps this specimen
was lightly double struck but this is only evident in the leaves, or perhaps this is a feature of die wear (cf. Coin Gall.
1965-1 111 which shows the same die flaw across the neckguard and similar distance from leaves to helmet). The other differences
claimed by Schaefer are not identifiable. Schaefer suggests reverse die is 13, which seems to be correct despite the poor
image of the Policoro specimen.
