  • H. Maranville , Akron, OH dial coin tester for Gold and Silver Coins. (and postal scale?) patented April 30th 1878.Patent # 203,057. Patent describes scale as being able to weigh mail, but the actual mechanism was only a coin tester. This is an example of patents that don't always match the mechanism created.
