Notes

  • Made by Thomas Wyatt of Mercer St. New York City. Fine horizontal lines were a result of Wyatt's copying of engraved illustrations in William Felt's pioneer An Historical Account of the Massachusetts Currency, copied in turn from Folke's 1763 English Coinage. Such lines were an engraver's convention to enliven blank spaces in their illustrations. Only 12 were struck in AR of this famous collector's copy.
