'Obverse, cut by Thomas Pope and Co. of Birmingham, England, was also used on the store cards of D. Gowans and Co. of New Orleans and Tilly, Haynes and Co. of Springfield, Mass. The London Crystal Palace served as the model for the New York Crystal Palace of 1853, itself the subject of a number of store cards (e.g. H.B. West of New York City). Edward and David Kinsey emigrated to Cincinnati from northern Wales, starting their silverware manufactory by 1837. In 1837 their business was known as "E. Kinsey, manufacturer of silver plate and spoons" at the corner of 3rd and Walnut. The partnership was dissolved in 1862, though each Kinsey stayed in business separately - Edward at East South Broadway, 3rd door below Fourth, and David at 24 West 5th Street.
