OCRE is joint project of the American Numismatic Society and the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World at New York University. It is co-directed by Dr. Andrew Meadows and Professor Roger Bagnall, and managed by Dr Gilles Bransbourg. The web database, based on the Numishare platform, has been developed by Ethan Gruber.

Work on data entry and editing has been carried out by Rachel Mullervy, Scott Weiss, Shannon Ness, Kristen Newby, Lauren Tomanelli, and Disnarda Pinilla.

Current contributors to the project are the ANS, the Münzkabinett of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, the Römisch-Germanische Kommission of the Deutsche Archäologische Institut, and the Academia Romana. Julie Langford of the University of South Florida and Clare Rowan at the University of Warwick contributed a significant portion of the Severan data in OCRE.

Digital Atlas of the Roman Empire map tiles are developed by Johan Åhlfeldt and are hosted by the Pelagios Project.
