Select Student Attendees of Conference Offered Free 2021 Membership

The Decline of the Carthaginian Empire ... exhibited 1817 by Joseph Mallord William Turner 1775-1851

The conference “Coinage of the Roman Provinces before Provincial Coinage: The Richard B. Witschonke Collection” was a great success. Held March 23—25, this three-day conference was co-sponsored by the American Numismatic Society and the Ph.D. Program in History at the Graduate Center CUNY.  At the conclusion of the program, the Society announced that student attendees would be given dues-free 2021 ANS memberships with additional subscriptions to the peer-reviewed American Journal of Numismatics (AJN).

On the second day of the conference, Dr. Joel Allen, Executive Officer of the PhD Program in History at Queens College and chair of one of the conference sessions, informed the ANS that the CUNY Graduate Center would sponsor ten students’ one-year memberships at the American Numismatic Society. In response, this generous offer was enthusiastically matched by David Hendin, Vice President of the Society, who also presented a paper during the first day of the conference. Students submitted their names to a raffle drawing; however, all additional students who submitted their names to the raffle, but not initially selected, were then sponsored by ANS Trustee Michael Beall.
