Long Table 98. Yale’s Numismatic Collection and the Bela Lyon Pratt Gallery

Benjamin Hellings, the Jackson-Tomasko Associate Curator of Numismatics, and Emily Pearce Seigerman, the Senior Museum Assistant, at the Yale University Art Gallery will present a brief history of the numismatic collection at Yale University: from its beginnings and growth under the care of the Yale University Library to its transfer to the Yale University Art Gallery. They will also introduce the new Bela Lyon Pratt Gallery space, dedicated to the Numismatic Collection, and its inaugural display. The presentation will also offer insight behind gallery construction, layout, case design, object selection, and physical-digital intersections.
