The Significance of Architectural Representations on Roman Coinage, Part II

Friday, March 18
1:00 pm ET

Join ANS Visiting Research Scholar Nathan T. Elkins for a discussion about the popular topic of architectural representations on Roman coinage and how they reflect elements of Roman culture. Using examples from the ANS collection, he will talk about the perils of using coin representations for architectural reconstructions, their interplay with other visual media, and their role in Roman imperial ideology. He will draw on themes discussed in his book Monuments in Miniature: Architecture on Roman Coinage and continue the conversation from his previous Long Table discussion (#70).

ANS Members only. A link will be sent to members the day of the event.
