American Numismatic Society, 1910.86.1

9. Collis P. Huntington, Esq. plaquette

Collis Huntington (1821-1900) was a railroad magnate known for his involvement in the first transcontinental railroad. His adopted son, Archer Huntington was an important benefactor of the American Numismatic Society. Posthumous portraits were completed in 1900 and 1904. The 1904 was that which Brenner exhibited most often, including the Grolier show in 1907 and the International Exhibition of Contemporary Medals in 1910. It is likely the one shown at the Hahlo Galleries as well.
