Hahlo-107-109, The Wright Brothers medal

American Numismatic Society, 0000.999.6797.

107. Reverse of the Wright Brothers’ medal.

109. The Wright Brothers’ medal, presented to them by the Aero Club of America, through President Taft, at the White House.

While Orville (1871-1948) and Wilbur Wright (1867-1912) did not sit for Brenner, he did meet them at the White House when they received their gold versions of this medal on June 9, 1909. The dates and locations cited on the medal refer to the brothers’ most recently set world records—Wilbur for staying in the air for over an hour and a half at Fort Myers and Orville for over an hour at Le Mans.
