Notes

  • 515mm long, 98.2mm at base, 25.0mm at top. Kissi Pennies, of the Kissi tribe (early 20th century) : Sierra Leone, Liberia, and French Guinea. Also called Kilindi, gitzi, ghisi, and "Coin with soul" (if broken a witch doctor must repair and restore soul). The twisted and hammered iron rods with distinctive ends show that the metal can be worked in four different ways and is therefore of high quality.
