Raphael (Raph) E. Solomon (d. 1992) of New York City became a member of the American Numismatic Society in 1952 and eventually was made a fellow (1986) and a patron (1986) of the Society.

Raphael (Raph) E. Solomon (d. 1992) of New York City became a member of the American Numismatic Society in 1952 and eventually was made a fellow (1986) and a patron (1986) of the Society. With Oscar Schilke, he wrote America’s Foreign Coins, 1793-1857 (1964) and he wrote the chapter on foreign coins in the American colonies for the Society’s bicentennial publication Studies on Money in Early America (1976). He also served as historian, president (1968-1969), and chairman of the board of the New York Numismatic Club.
