Biographical Note

Joseph Napoleon Tricot Levick (1828-1908) was an American coin dealer. He was a member of the Numismatic and Archaeological Society of Philadelphia, the founding editor of the American Journal of Numismatics, and treasurer of the American Numismatic Society.

Scope and Content Note

A slim, burgundy notebook marked “Levick, JNT 1882” and “Case 3” on the cover. The notebook documents a collection of early U.S. coins dating from 1794 to 1901. The collection consists largely of dollars, half dollars, and quarters, but towards the back are a few pages of dimes, half dimes, nickels, and cents. Described are each coin’s date, Haseltine type table number, rarity, condition, cost, description, remarks, and price sold for. Buyers, sellers, and other provenance data are not included.
