Scope and Content Note

Contains press releases, a fact sheet, and photographs promoting the opening the Money Museum at the National Bank of Detroit on April 28, 1960. The Money Museum’s director, Rear Admiral Oscar H. Dodson, USN, was an ANS Fellow (1943) and past president of the American Numismatic Association. The press releases provide detailed descriptions of the museum’s holdings as well as biographical data about Dodson and Nate S. Shapero, a local businessman and numismatist who donated his collection to the museum. The photographs depict the exhibit, visitors, and, in addition to Dodson and Shapero, individuals such as Donald F. Valley, Henry T. Bodman, Carol Brandner, and Linda Gibson.
