William Temple Franklin (1760-1823), grandson of Benjamin Franklin, was born in England and became an American diplomat and real estate speculator.
North American Land Company stock certificate no. 978 representing shares 14098 to 14102, 1795 February 20, issued in Philadelphia to Benjamin Temple Franklin. Issuing of five shares of North American Land Company stock to William Temple Franklin. "Dividend whereof shall not be less than six dollars on each share." Signed "in the presence and by order of the Board of Manager, at Philadelphia," on April 18, 1795, by James Marshall, secretary, and Robert Morris, signer of the Declaration of Independence, then president of the North American Land Company.
