about the event

The American Numismatic Society will host a group of students from Global Kids, Inc. providing them with information and knowledge on monetary objects. A lecture focusing on 'Money and Ideology' will help them figure out how ancient and not so ancient coins and banknotes testify about various human societies' beliefs in different historical situations and cultures. Artifacts from the ANS Collection will be on view to complement the presentation. This is a private event, not open to the public.

Global Kids, Inc. - the premier non-profit educational organization for global learning and youth development - works to ensure that urban youth have the knowledge, skills, experiences and values they need to succeed in school, participate effectively in the democratic process, and achieve leadership in their communities and on the global stage.

Young people examine global issues, make local connections, and create change through peer education, social action, digital media, and service-learning, while receiving intensive support from GK staff. Global Kids operates in-school and out-of-school time programs in New York City and Washington, D.C. public schools and at their headquarters, and reaches over 14,000 students each year. Each year, over 90% of their seniors graduate from high school and go on to higher education.
