Dear Friends and Members,
As we prepare to reopen our headquarters for visitors, I am reminded of how much we relied on you, our loyal friends, to meet the unique challenges of the past year. Now we turn to you again to help us maintain this incredible growth with a contribution to the 2021 Mid-Year Appeal.
With your support, we significantly expanded our virtual programming in order to stay connected to our members near and far. We recently sponsored a virtual conference on the Witschonke Collection in collaboration with the CUNY Graduate Center, which was attended by more than 300 participants. Every day, hundreds of digital records from our European medieval and modern collection are being updated and published online with high-resolution images. Since last spring, members have gathered remotely for our weekly Long Table discussions, monthly Money Talks lectures, and our newly-launched educational initiative, the ANS Lyceum.
In addition to developing our virtual content, we continue to invest in all aspects of our physical collections. Two projects to highlight include the Marc M. Salton archive donated to the ANS Library and the transfer of the Medallic Art Company acquisition from Nevada to New York City. The move will enable us to process, photograph, and catalogue this material, making it accessible to researchers and the public for further examination.
We are investing in the technical and personnel resources needed to present our programs as hybrid events that will allow you to fully access our offerings regardless of your location or circumstances. In just a few short months, we will host the recently revived Coinages of the Americas Conference with presenters and attendees both at the ANS in New York and around the world. Future programming will be designed to bring together the absolute best of both our online and in-person events.
As always, we can only realize our ambitions with your help. Support these efforts through a 100% tax-deductible donation to the Mid-Year Appeal today. From myself, the Board of Trustees, and the entire staff of the ANS, please accept our deepest gratitude for enabling the Society to be an unparalleled resource in the field of numismatics.
